Canada's AMP Solar Buys the Rest of India's Rudra Solarfarms

Mississauga, Canada-based AMP Solar had acquired a 49 percent stake in Rudra Solarfarms Limited a subsidiary of Suzlon Energy based in Pune, India, in December 2016. The Canadian global developer of flexible clean energy infrastructure, has now acquired the remaining 51 percent stake in Rudra Solarfarms for $2 million.

Rudra Solarfarms is a special purpose vehicle established by Suzlon, in partnership with AMP Solar, for executing a solar project of 15 megawatt in India’s southern state of Telangana. A special purpose vehicle/entity is a subsidiary company with an asset/liability structure and legal status that makes its obligations secure, even if the parent company goes bankrupt.
