Crystal Lake, Illinois-headquartered Aptar Pharma, a global leader in drug delivery systems and solutions, has opened a new production facility in the Palava Industrial and Logistics Park at Taloja, Mumbai. This expansion increases Aptar’s manufacturing capabilities in Southeast Asia to meet growing customer demand in the region.

The new facility has already begun assembly operations and product delivery to customers. It has also received ISO 15378 certification, demonstrating its adherence to international quality standards for primary packaging materials for medicinal products.
This investment in India aligns with Aptar’s localization strategy of having a strong regional presence close to customers.
Gael Touya, president of Aptar Pharma said, “Our Aptar Pharma business in India has shown robust growth in recent years, and today marks yet another milestone in our investment in the South East Asia region. Over the past 11 years, Aptar Mumbai has continuously supplied products that meet even the highest of regulatory requirements. This new facility is a key step in serving the needs of our customers in the region, which will ultimately benefit patients.”
Sanjay Kapote, president of Aptar India and Head of Pharma for Southeast Asia, explained that the larger facility will not only expand their assembly capabilities but also enable further localization by bringing in other Aptar Pharma technologies tailored for the Asian market. This supports their vision of better serving regional customer needs.
Alex Theodorakis, president of Aptar Pharma Prescription, praised India as a key pillar in the pharmaceutical ecosystem. He described the new facility as the start of an exciting new chapter of growth for Aptar Pharma in the region after over 10 years of success.
In a virtual address, Xiangwei Gong, President of Aptar Asia, congratulated the global and local teams whose tireless efforts enabled the completion of this major project in Mumbai in under two years despite challenges.
