Apple acquired Tuplejump, a Hyderabad-based machine learning startup that helps companies to store, process and visualize big data with its unique software. Tuplejump was founded in 2013 by Rohit Rai, Satyaprakash Buddhavarapu and Deepak Alur.

Known in the trade as an acqui-hire, most of Tuplejump’s 16 employees will join Apple. A back-of-the-envelope calculation by an expert valued the deal at approximately $20 million, reports Gadgets Now.
Apple was keenly interested in “FiloDB” , an open source project that Tuplejump was working on to efficiently apply machine learning concepts and analytics to complex data. Apple has acquired three AI companies so far this year, the other two being Turi and Emotient. Tuplejump is its first-ever purchase in India.
