Andritz, the machinery specialist with its headquarters in Graz (Austria), has received an order from Precot Meridian (leading manufacturer of Yarn and Fabrics in Coimbatore, India). Andritz will supply the Indian company with a new Jetlace nonwovens production line. The line is expected to start up in the first quarter of 2013 and will produce spunlace fabrics for the hygiene and medical industries.
Precot Meridian, with annual revenues of more than $120 million, has announced its intention to diversify into nonwovens this spring. According to Ashok Kulkarni (CEO of Precot), the company is planning to become an important player in the cosmetic pad market with a new nonwovens operation in the southern state of Karnataka in India. Moreover, trial production of cotton pads has started 3 months ago.
