Based in Washington D.C., the American College of Cardiology (ACC) has partnered with Delhi-based manufacturer of drug-eluting stents and other medical equipment, Translumina Therapeutics, for an International Center of Excellence (ICOE) program in India. This collaboration aims to augment care of patients with cardio vascular disease by standardizing and enhancing healthcare delivery.
ACC representative and associate professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at Yale University’s School of Medicine, Dr. Jeptha P. Curtis, said collaborations will entail helping the partnering hospital in building a clinical data registry. “Through ACC’s National Cardiovascular Data Registry, we will be able to provide feedback to hospitals regarding their outcomes in comparison with global averages and work with them to improve patient care,” said Curtis.

ACC staff, along with logistical help from Translumina, will evaluate interested hospitals and select those that have a strong commitment to improving their patient care. ICOE accreditation will be awarded to those hospitals that demonstrate well-organized systems, services, facilities, and highly-trained and experienced doctors, with an emphasis on delivering quality care and positive patient outcomes.
