Green Oaks, Illinois-based Abbott has introduced the ‘Vertigo Coach‘ app in India, a digital health solution designed to assist individuals with vertigo in managing their condition holistically. The app serves as a resource for those living with vertigo, offering information about symptoms, common triggers, and management strategies for vertigo episodes.
The Vertigo Coach aims to empower patients with lifestyle tips and exercise guidance, potentially improving the quality of interactions between patients and their healthcare providers. A key feature of the app is its medication management system, which helps users adhere to their treatment plans by scheduling daily reminders and sending automated notifications.
Vivek V Kamath, managing director of Abbott India Limited, emphasized the app’s role in helping people understand and manage vertigo effectively. He expressed hope that the user-friendly app would empower individuals to control their condition better and make necessary lifestyle changes with confidence.
Vertigo affects 9.9 million people in India, causing a sudden, unpleasant sensation of spinning. It differs from regular dizziness in that it creates a false feeling of movement in one’s surroundings. Vertigo episodes can last from seconds to days and are more common in the elderly and women. However, effective management strategies exist, including physical therapy, medication, psychotherapy, and lifestyle modifications.
