Mumbai, India-based Reliance Industries claims that within four months of launching the services of its telecom subsidiary Jio, a record number of 72.4 million customers have subscribed to it.
However, Jio services face congestion issues as the interconnect capacity provided by some large operators is “still way below requirement”, the company stated. From Jio to Airtel network, 175 calls fail out of every 1,000 calls, while service quality regulations mandate that no more than 5 calls out of every 1,000 calls can fail, reports DNA.
Reliance Industries said that it is planning to invest an additional $5 billion (Rs 30,000 crore) to expand coverage and increase network capacity, taking the total investment in the network to nearly $15 billion. (Rs 1.9 lakh crore)
