Tata Electronics, the electronics and semiconductor manufacturing arm of the Tata Group, exported goods worth $10.4 billion at current exchange rates in the recent fiscal year up 29%, as Apple shifted more iPhone production out of China. Indian Infrastructure reported the figure. The group set up Tata Electronics in 2020.
The filings cover three Tata units, two of which Tata took over from existing iPhone assemblers. The United States took Apple exports of $4.0 billion, up nearly 40%. Ireland, where Apple has its European headquarters, took $1.3 billion. Exports equal 76% of the units’ reported production revenue.
Growth has not yet turned into profit. Consolidated operating revenue rose 96% to $13.6 billion, while the net loss widened to $169 million from $7 million a year earlier. Domestic sales within India rose 46% to $3.2 billion.
Why this matters. American companies that build in India can scale assembly quickly.
