thyssenkrupp Automotive Technology, the automotive segment of Essen, Germany-based thyssenkrupp, has opened a global capability center in Pune, in western India. A global capability center is an in-house engineering and support hub that a foreign company runs for its worldwide work. ANI News carried the company’s announcement this week.
More than 120 engineers already work at the site, which sits in Solitaire Business Hub 2 in the Baner-Balewadi business district. The company plans to grow the team to more than 300 people over the coming years. Hiring starts with software, hardware and mechanical engineering roles.
What the center will do
The team will work on software, hardware, systems and mechanical development for the company’s customer programs around the world. The announcement names embedded systems, functional safety, cybersecurity and advanced chassis technologies as focus areas. Chassis technologies include the next generation of steering and chassis systems.
The company also plans a sales team in Pune and describes India as a growing sourcing base. It says local production depends on winning customer projects. Plans for the Pune site were first announced in 2025.
