Aequs, a precision manufacturer in southern India, has signed long-term supply agreements with more businesses of Safran, the aerospace and defense group in Paris. The contracts cover landing gear components for Airbus and Boeing aircraft, The Hindu BusinessLine reported.
Aequs already supplied Safran Landing Systems. The new agreements add Safran Aerosystems and Safran Electronics & Defense, which brings the company’s relationships to six Safran businesses.
The work covers machining of superalloy parts, precision machining, coating and assembly of landing gear components for the A320, A330 and A350 programs at Airbus and the 787 program at Boeing. Much of it will happen at an upcoming Aequs plant in Hosur, in Tamil Nadu, in southern India, called the Aequs Engine Components Ecosystem. The company will also use its existing aerospace plants in Belagavi, in the southern state of Karnataka.
The agreements build on a July 2026 contract in which Safran Landing Systems asked Aequs to make fully assembled wheels for the A320 family. That agreement runs through 2042 and covers the whole job in India, from locally sourced aluminum to final assembly and testing.
Aequs has worked with Safran for more than a decade and runs plants in Belagavi, Hubballi and Koppal in Karnataka, with operations in the United States and France.
“We believe in long-horizon partnerships anchored in capability, reliability, and scale,” said Aravind Melligeri, Aequs’ executive chairman and chief executive, in a statement.
For Western aerospace companies that need machined parts for current aircraft programs, the contracts show a supplier in India winning work from several businesses inside one buyer.
