The Mumbai-headquartered Tata Group is set to start assembling Apple iPhones in India after Taiwan-based Wistron Corp approved the sale of its Indian manufacturing unit to the Group.
The Wistron board approved the sale of Wistron InfoComm Manufacturing India Private Limited to Tata Electronics Private Limited for an estimated $125 million, reports Reuters.
The Tata company will start manufacturing these mobile phones for both domestic and global markets within two and a half years announced Rajeev Chandrashekar, India’s Deputy Minister for Information Technology.
