Google acquired Bangalore, India-based Sigmoid Labs, the developer of the transportation application, ‘Where Is My Train’. Founded by five former employees of TiVo Corporation, Sigmoid Labs has a team of ten people.
Where Is My Train is available in several Indian languages including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. It became the number one app in the ‘Travel and Local” section of Google Play Store in India and has a record 10 million plus downloads on Android phones.
Where Is My Train displays real-time updated train schedules, live train statuses, provides information on availability of seats, and reservation status. It can function offline without internet or GPS. Google said that developers of the app would “continue to build on the current offering.”
