Tesla has opened a sixth showroom in India, this one in Chennai, in southern India, giving the electric-car maker its first dedicated retail and service point in Tamil Nadu.
The new Experience Center sits inside Chennai’s Express Avenue Mall and will handle sales and after-sales service directly, The Economic Times reported. Tesla’s other five India showrooms are in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurgaon.
Alongside the new showroom, Tesla has set up a Tesla-Approved Collision Center and additional service capacity in Poonamallee, a suburb of Chennai. Together, the two sites give Tesla owners in Chennai and the wider Tamil Nadu region access to parts, trained technicians, software-based diagnostics, and collision repair done to Tesla standards.
As a long-time Tesla customer (I bought my Model S in 2014) I can attest to to the quality, service (and high price) of the Tesla owner’s experience

For American executives watching India’s consumer or automotive market, the move is a useful data point: even a company with Tesla’s brand recognition is building out its India presence one city and one service center at a time, rather than through a single national launch. Success in India is often (but not always) about proper market segmentation and a phased launch.
