While it is widely known that Asian markets have the potential to boost U.S. companies’ bottom lines as a result of rapidly expanding appetites for American exports most business leaders can benefit from learning how to better navigate the challenges of working in these potentially lucrative markets says Richard Drobnick Director of The Center for International Business Education and Research CIBER at USC’s Marshall School of Business.
For the past 23 years USC CIBER at the Marshall School of Business and the U.S.Department of Commerce have jointly produced the annual Asia Pacific Business Outlook conference APBO which will be held this year on March 28-29 at USC.
Participating in this year’s APBO as part of the Cabinet’s New Markets New Jobs Tour Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke will speak about the Department of Commerce’s efforts to connect small and medium-sized businesses with the resources they need in order to sell more of what they make overseas and create more jobs in the U.S. Doubling U.S. exports in five years is a goal of the Obama Administration’s National Export Initiative.
This year’s conference will feature a diverse array of presentations and workshops that uncover strategies for success in the Pacific Rim. Following is a brief overview of some of the presentations:
Overcoming the Top Five Barriers to Market Success in India led by Gunjan Bagla founder of Amritt Ventures
APEC Business Advisory Council The upcoming APBO conference will provide an ideal environment for understanding the tremendous opportunities of the Pacific Rim according to James G. Ellis Dean of the USC Marshall School of Business. The conference captures many of Marshall’s strengths as it brings together entrepreneurs thought leaders and government officials who share the common goal of competing successfully in the global economy. We are particularly pleased to welcome Secretary Locke to USC Marshall for this important discussion. A full list of speakers and sponsors as well as a complete schedule of events are available on the APBO website at: http://www.apboconference.com/.
