Neelam Dhawan is an icon for aspiring women in the Information Technology business.
Neelam started her career with the major players in the consumer sector at Asian Paints and Hindustan Lever. She was been with HCL sales and marketing team for 14 years. She has held variety of leadership positions for four years at IBM and six years at Compaq. From the year 2005 to 2008, she was the Managing Director of Microsoft India.
Neelam Dhawan joined Hewlett-Packard India (the 4th largest IT Company in India) as the Managing Director in2008. She has countrywide responsibility for revenues and profitability and ensuring the greatest leverage from HP’s Services, Personal Systems and Imaging & Printing businesses. Neelam created a solution “ensure our customers remain competitive” to make the banking sector’s profitable.
Neelam Dhawan has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi. She received her Master’s in Business Administration from Faculty of Management Studies in 1982. She is married to Atul Dhawan, a partner at Deloitte and the couple has two daughters.
Neelam served as a member of the Supervisory Board at Koninklijke Philips Electronics NV since April 2012. She has been placed on the 37th position among the ‘50 Most Powerful Women in Business’ in 2009 by Fortune Magazine. She has been listed among India’s ‘Top Inspirational Women Leaders’ by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
