India Defense RFI Indian Army New Power Pack With Minimum 380 Horse Power Engine For Infantry Combat Vehicle ICV BMP-2/2K:
1. ICV BMP-2 is the main Combat Vehicle held by the Mechanised Infantry units of Indian Army. This ICV is fitted with UTD-20 engine of Russian Origin, which has been indigenized. The UTD-20 engine is the original engine of ICV BMP-1 and has also been used for ICV BMP-2/2K even though the BMP-2/2K is more than 1000 Kgs heavier than the ICV BMP-1. The UTD-20 engine has a power output of 285(±15) Horse Power and is considered to be inadequate for the BMP-2/2K as it, affects :-
(a) Cross country mobility.
(b) Floatation and gradient negotiating capability.
(c) Inability to take any add – ons.
2. It is imperative, that, the existing UTD-20 engine be replaced with new power pack with min 380hp engine thereby offering greater mobility to the ICV BMP-2/2K. To ensure better mobility, acceleration and gradability there is a need to fit new power pack with min 380 horse power engine on ICV BMP-2/2K.
3. A questionnaire giving specific inputs for New Power Pack with min 380 HP engine of BMP-2/2K is given as Appendix ‘A’ and in addition a Performa to be filled by the vendors is attached as Appendix ‘B’.
4. Since the Upgradation process is at an advanced stage, urgency may please be accorded and forward response by 30 Nov 11.
