The Discovery Communications India, a subsidiary of the Discovery Channel, has a base of more than 50 million households. Discovery Communications is so successful in India because of its creative strategies in programming, distribution, and marketing. Discovery set up a time band system segmenting the programs according to the type of viewers at a given time in the day. Discovery has also entered a strategic partnership with Sony Entertainment to form the One Alliance. In response to a growing demand for a more India specific content, Discovery came up with the Discover India series.
