Christopher Columbus (31 October 1451 – 20 May 1506) was an explorer who accidentally discovered America going in the wrong direction while sailing to India under the name of Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand II. After Columbus had failed to find India, Portuguese explorer Vasco de Gama sailed around the Cape of Good and landed in Goa, India.
