Beyoncé Knowles(4 September, 1981), referred to as Beyoncé, Queen B, or Queen Bey, is a global icon whose influence transcends music to encompass entrepreneurship, activism, and cultural empowerment. Married to rapper Jay-Z, Beyoncé gained popularity from girl group Destiny’s Child, as the lead singer.
In 2003, she began releasing solo music, reaching stardom with songs such as “Crazy in Love”, “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and “Formation”. With 32 Grammys, she is one of the best selling artists of all time. Along with her musical career, Beyoncé has also acted in films such as The Pink Panther and Dreamgirls. Beyoncé also launched a perfume, Heat, in 2010. On March 29th, 2024, Beyoncé released her eighth studio album, Cowboy Carter.
Beyoncé has been to India two times, first to Mumbai as part of her 2007 world tour, The Beyoncé Experience. She performed at Mumbai’s MMRDA Grounds, a venue with a capacity of 15,000 fans. During this show, she donned a sari for her performance of her hit song “Dangerously in Love”.
In December 2018, Beyoncé returned to Western India, this time to perform at the pre-wedding celebration of Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal, who are children to two of India’s billionaires (Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries and Ajay Piramal of the Piramal Group). At the festivities, Beyoncé put on a 45 minute concert of her hit songs, closely resembling her 2018 On the Run II Tour.
