Agilent Technologies entered the Indian market in 1989. Because the economy was not liberalized they could not import test and measurement instruments, so they set up a manufacturing base in Bangalore. After liberalization of the economy they stopped manufacturing and started importing. Agilent has an IT-enabled services operation in Gurgaon, it is used in business operations such as providing business support, engineering support, IT support and financial services worldwide. Agilent has R&D services centre for its communications, test and measurement, and semiconductor products. Agilent has also produced an integrated chip design centre in India called System on Chip (SoC) Centre, it provides Application Specific Integrated Circuit and System Design services to their clients.
