Khosla Ventures Backs Even Healthcare’s Bengaluru Hospitals

Khosla Ventures Backs Even Healthcare’s Bengaluru Hospitals

Even Healthcare, a startup that runs hospitals in Bengaluru, in southern India, has raised $50 million to build and run its own hospitals, TechCrunch reported on October 19, 2026. Khosla Ventures, the venture capital firm in Menlo Park, California, led the Series B round. Alpha Wave also took part. Even plans to use the money to open more hospitals in Bengaluru. Vinod Khosla is a former partner at Kleiner Perkins, a co-founder of Sun Microsystems and a graduate of the Delhi campus of the Indian Institute of Technology. I am past President of Pan IIT USA and a graduate of IIT as well. Khosla is renowned for making big bets at his venture fund.

Even says it is trying to change how hospitals in India earn their money. According to the report, hospitals in India typically earn more when patients have extra tests, procedures or longer stays. Even pays its doctors fixed salaries instead, with bonuses tied to patient-reported outcomes, and it does not link its managers’ pay to the number of procedures performed.

Khosla Ventures has backed Even since its seed round in 2021. Vinod Khosla declared: “The clinical and economic results so far give us conviction that this can become an important new model for healthcare in India and beyond.” Jai Sajnani, a partner at Khosla Ventures, told the outlet the early performance of Even’s hospitals was a key reason the firm led the round.

Even Healthcare Series B: $50 million raised, 2 hospitals open in Bengaluru, unplanned readmissions below 1% per Even

Even has opened two hospitals in Bengaluru, and cofounder Mayank Banerjee told the outlet that both reached operational profitability, excluding depreciation, within a year of opening. Even leases its hospital buildings on twenty-year agreements and pays for the fit-out and medical equipment, Banerjee said.

Even also reports clinical results. It says its unplanned readmission rate is below 1%, against an industry benchmark of 8% to 15%, and that patients spend 40% less time in the hospital. It says its approach has saved insurers more than $5 million at current exchange rates. The report noted that these figures come from the company.

According to regulatory filings cited in the report, Even posted a net loss of $9.5 million in the fiscal year ending March 2025, nearly 25% more than the year before, on revenue of $2.9 million. Banerjee said Even could turn profitable within months if it stopped spending on expansion, but it has chosen to grow instead. Banerjee said Even employs 650 people, including 300 doctors who work full time. In August, Entrackr reported that Even cut approximately 350 jobs, and Banerjee called it a difficult decision.

Why this matters: A Silicon Valley investor is putting more money behind a hospital operator in Bengaluru, and insurers are part of the model. Even says it is working with insurer partners on payment for hospitalizations it helps prevent. American healthcare and insurance companies weighing India can watch how those results hold up as Even adds hospitals.
