Kuehne+Nagel, the logistics group headquartered in Schindellegi, Switzerland, has opened a technology center in Chennai, in southern India. The company expects 250 technology professionals to work there by early 2027, Container News reported. Kuehne+Nagel moves freight by sea, air and land and runs contract logistics. It employs 76,000 people in more than 1,300 offices across over 100 countries.
The center supports development of the company’s global products and its digital logistics platforms, including SALOG, its digital forwarding system for sea and air freight. Kuehne+Nagel chose Chennai for its technology ecosystem and its access to engineering talent. Accenture, a consulting and technology services firm headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, is helping the company launch the center and build its workforce.
Marcus Claesson, chief information officer of Kuehne+Nagel, said in the announcement: “Developing our core platforms in-house allows us to innovate faster, scale globally, and continuously improve the customer experience.”
Christina Raab, market unit lead for Central and Eastern Europe at Accenture, said: “The launch of Kuehne+Nagel’s Tech Centre in Chennai reflects the strength of our strategic partnership. By combining our technology and operational capabilities with local talent, we are helping build a strong foundation for the centre to scale and support Kuehne+Nagel’s future growth.”
