Billtrust, a business-to-business payments software company headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, opened a Global Capability Center in Hyderabad, in southern India, on September 28, according to UNI. Telangana IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu inaugurated the facility, with Billtrust CEO Grant Halloran and members of the company’s global leadership team present.
The 40,000-square-foot center sits in Madhapur, in Hyderabad. It can hold 250 employees and already has 100, six months after it began operations. Billtrust plans to grow the Hyderabad team to 1,000 people over three years and has committed $47 million at current exchange rates.
Billtrust sells software that helps companies send invoices, take payments, manage credit and collect what customers owe. The company says it serves more than 2,600 suppliers and handles more than $1 trillion in invoices a year. Its website says the Hyderabad center supports its AI-focused technology development and customer service operations.
365Telugu reported that Farhad H. Baria is country head of the India center. It also reported that Sridhar Babu pledged the Telangana government’s support to Billtrust and pointed to Hyderabad’s pool of skilled workers.
Why it matters
Billtrust is building its own technology and customer service team in India. The test is whether Billtrust grows from 100 people to 1,000 on the three-year schedule it has set.
