Siemens Healthineers of Erlnagen Germany, announced the start of local production of its Artis One Edition X angiography system at the company’s factory in Bangalore, in southern India. The facility already produces CT scanners, MRI systems, mobile C-arms, and digital X-ray equipment, and the addition of the angiography system strengthens Siemens’ role in advancing the Make in India initiative.
The Artis One Edition X is designed to improve imaging quality and workflow efficiency, enabling clinicians to perform life-saving procedures that restore blood flow and treat arterial and venous blockages. These interventions are critical for patients with cardiovascular disease, kidney failure, and arrhythmias — conditions that remain widespread across India.
India’s cath lab density is currently estimated at just 1.5 to 1.75 per million people, underscoring the urgent need for accessible cardiac care infrastructure. Demand for angiography systems is rising rapidly, not only in major metropolitan centers but also in tier 2 and 3 cities where hospitals are expanding interventional capabilities.
