Anthropic is expanding its global footprint by opening a new office in Bangalore, India, in early 2026 — its second Asia Pacific location after Tokyo. This move aims to support India’s fast-growing AI ecosystem and meet rising demand for Claude, especially in technical and programming tasks.
CEO Dario Amodei will visit India to engage with officials and partners, emphasizing the country’s vast technical talent and alignment with Anthropic’s mission for inclusive, responsible AI. “India is compelling because of the scale of its technical talent and the commitment from the Indian government to ensure the benefits of artificial intelligence reach all areas of society, not just concentrated pockets,”

The office in Bangalore will focus on social impact in education, healthcare, and agriculture, while fostering partnerships with Indian enterprises, nonprofits, and startups. India ranks second globally in Claude usage, behind only the U.S.,with major companies such as CRED relying on it for critical coding work.”
Paul Smith, Anthropic’s Chief Commercial Officer said, ” We see remarkable promise in India’s innovation ecosystem – the vibrant startup and developer communities alongside Indian enterprises are building solutions that impact millions of lives globally.”
The expansion also includes enhanced support for Indic languages, including Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, and Urdu, broadening AI accessibility and public sector adoption across the country.
