India has broadened its Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveler Program (FTI-TTP) to include 13 major international airports, aiming to streamline the immigration process for both arriving and departing travelers. Originally launched in 2024, the program was first implemented at key metro hubs.
FTI-TTP is designed to reduce wait times at immigration counters by allowing pre-approved travelers to use biometric verification — fingerprint and iris scans — for expedited clearance. This system bypasses traditional passport checks and long queues, offering a more efficient experience for frequent flyers, business travelers, and tourists.
Participating airports now include:
- Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi
- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai
- Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru
- Chennai International Airport
- Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad
- Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad
- Cochin International Airport
- Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata
- Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Trichy, Kozhikode, and Amritsar

The initiative supports the Indian government’s broader strategy to improve airport infrastructure and accommodate rising passenger volumes. By simplifying entry procedures, the program aims to make India more accessible and appealing to international visitors, especially during peak travel seasons. The only catch is that the program is open to those who have Overseas Citizenship of India or OCI. I expect that the program will be opened up to frequent tourists and business visitors at some point in the future.
