Governor Kim Reynolds of Iowa is leading an eight-day trade and investment mission to India, accompanied by a delegation of state officials and business leaders. The initiative, organized by the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) with support from the U.S. Embassy in Delhi and the U.S. Consulate in Mumbai, aims to deepen economic partnerships and explore new opportunities for collaboration between Iowa and India.
Joining Governor Reynolds are Debi Durham, Director of the IEDA, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, and a group of agricultural and business representatives from across the state. The delegation will visit three major Indian cities — Delhi, Pune, and Mumbai — engaging with key stakeholders in government, industry, and agriculture.
Governor Reynolds said, “Our visit to India last year kicked off a number of relationships between Iowa and Indian businesses and trade associations and furthered conversations on investing in Iowa and market access for certain Iowa agricultural products.”
In Delhi, Governor Reynolds and Secretary Naig will participate in DialogueNEXT, a symposium hosted by the World Food Prize Foundation. This event brings together global food system stakeholders to discuss strategies for achieving food security and sustainable agricultural development. Their presence underscores Iowa’s commitment to contributing to global food solutions and sharing its agricultural expertise.
The delegation will also attend a business panel discussion hosted by the Sehgal Foundation, an organization known for its work in promoting economic and educational development in rural India. This engagement offers a platform for exchanging ideas on rural innovation, inclusive growth, and cross-border investment.
The visit highlights the growing importance of international collaboration in addressing shared challenges such as food security, economic development, and sustainable growth.
