India’s orthopedic market is growing, driven by an aging population, fast-paced urban lifestyles, and a greater awareness of joint health. For Zimmer Biomet India, a subsidiary of the Warsaw, Indiana-based company, the goal of orthopedic care in India has evolved beyond simply fixing injuries. The company’s messaging is now about helping people regain their independence, and overall quality of life. (Gunjan note: My aging relatives in India certainly were driven by their need to regain independence before agreeing to bilateral knee replacements). In India the company faces strong competition from J&J India and other global companies; India based companies are also becoming better at some segments of the market.
The company’s commitment to this mission was showcased at its recent event, ZB Next, held in New Delhi and Mumbai. Zimmer Biomet India introduced nine new technologies aimed at “remodeling” orthopedic care in the country.
