Indianapolis, Indiana-headquartered Eli Lilly inaugurated a new technology and innovation center in Hyderabad, India, marking an expansion of its global digital capabilities. The site will serve as a hub focused on artificial intelligence, automation, cloud computing, and software engineering.

The Hyderabad center has already hired 100 professionals and plans to grow to 1,500 employees in the coming years. Diogo Rau, executive vice president and chief information and digital officer, emphasized the company’s commitment to India and its goal of accelerating the development and delivery of medicines for:
- Diabetes and obesity
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Complex cancers
- Immune disorders
The site is positioned as a center of innovation, not a back-office or IT support unit. It will act as a nerve center linking Lilly’s global facilities.
This move places Eli Lilly among a growing list of multinational corporations establishing Global Capability Centers in Hyderabad, further solidifying the city’s reputation as a tech and innovation hot spot.
