India’s Nutraceutical Industry Poised for Global Growth

The World Food India Expo 2024, held at New Delhi in September, showcased India’s ambitious goal of developing a $100 billion nutraceutical ecosystem by 2047. The event, organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, brought together international leaders and regulators in the food processing and nutraceutical sectors.

A significant highlight was the signing of multiple Memorandums of Understanding  between the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management  and major global corporations including Nestlé R&D, Unilever, Tetra Pak, Fermenta, and Hexagon Nutrition. These partnerships aim to strengthen India’s position as the world’s fifth-largest nutraceutical market and third-largest producer.

A notable partnership was established between NIFTEM and NutrifyToday, creating a Center of Excellence for Nutraceuticals. This collaboration introduces NutrifyGenie AI to enhance research capabilities and commercialization opportunities across NutrifyToday’s network spanning 11 countries. The partnership focuses on developing future industry leaders through advanced training programs and specialized courses under the NutrifyToday Academy.

The event highlighted India’s growing importance in the global nutraceutical landscape, with international companies showing strong interest in the market. Industry experts suggest that with appropriate government policies, India could evolve into a global hub for nutraceutical research, development, and manufacturing, while also serving as an international sourcing destination.
