Indian businessman Gunjan Bagla, CEO Amritt has been pushing to open a Consulate of India in Los Angeles for many years. He launched a petition that gathered 4,000 signatures, reached out to the office of Mayor Karen Bass and even pushed his way through a crowd at an event in Delhi to reach a limousine with former L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti, who is now U.S. ambassador to India, to pitch his idea of opening a local consulate. His efforts eventually paid off. In late Sept., Mayor Karen Bass announced the opening of a new Indian Consulate in Los Angeles.
