Piramal Pharma Solutions, U.S. subsidiary of Mumbai-based Piramal Enterprises, announced an expansion of its sterile injectables facility in Lexington, Kentucky. The company plans to invest $80 million in this project, which will be funded through a combination of bank loans and internal resources.
The expansion will add 24,000 square feet of manufacturing space to the existing facility, along with a new laboratory and equipment. The Lexington facility specializes in critical processes for sterile injectable drug products, including sterile compounding, liquid filling, and lyophilization. It also plays a key role in Piramal’s integrated antibody-drug conjugate development and manufacturing program called ‘ADCelerate‘.

Currently, the site can produce 104 product batches annually. Upon completion of the expansion, expected by March 2027, this capacity will more than double to over 240 batches per year. This increase in production capability positions Piramal Pharma to better serve the growing U.S. injectables market, which is projected to surpass $20 billion by 2028.
Peter DeYoung, CEO of Piramal Pharma’s global division, emphasized that this expansion will enable the company to serve as a comprehensive partner throughout the entire product lifecycle.
