Samsung Highlights India’s Importance in its Global Strategy

Samsung Electronics CEO and Vice-Chairman Jong-Hee Han‘s recent visit to the company’s Noida factory underscores India’s growing importance in Samsung’s global strategy.

“India is the fastest-growing markets globally and offers a huge opportunity for Samsung. We were among the first companies to invest in India, and I am happy that the Noida factory has emerged as one of our biggest facilities, manufacturing not only for India, but for the world,” Han said.

The Noida facility, which produces smartphones, tablets, and refrigerators, has become one of Samsung’s most substantial manufacturing units, serving both domestic and international markets. This development aligns with Samsung’s early commitment to investing in India, positioning the company as a pioneer in recognizing the country’s market potential.

In 2024, Samsung has made significant strides in implementing its ‘AI for All’ vision, introduced earlier this year. This initiative aims to enhance consumer experiences through the integration of artificial intelligence and hyper-connectivity, fostering open collaboration. The company successfully launched Galaxy AI-powered premium smartphones and Bespoke AI home appliances, including refrigerators, air conditioners, and washing machines. These products form a comprehensive ecosystem of connected devices, offering convenience, connectivity, and comfort while promoting energy efficiency.

The ‘One Samsung’ experience, driven by advanced technology, has distinguished the company’s products in the market. This approach has garnered considerable consumer interest, particularly in the premium refrigerator segment. India has witnessed rapid growth in this market as consumers increasingly opt for larger capacity refrigerators with advanced features.

Han praised the contributions of India-based R&D teams in developing new products and services. He noted that India’s large population of tech-savvy young consumers serves as a source of inspiration for innovation. Many young engineers working at Samsung’s R&D centers in India play crucial roles in developing AI technologies.

Samsung’s commitment to the Indian market is further demonstrated by its support for the government’s “Make in India” initiative. The company operates two state-of-the-art manufacturing plants in Noida and Sriperumbudur. Additionally, Samsung has established a design center in Noida and maintains three R&D facilities – two in Noida and one in Bangalore. These R&D centers are instrumental in driving innovation for both local and global products.

Samsung aims to strengthen its position in the Indian market while contributing to the country’s technological advancement and economic growth.
