The co-chairs of the EU-India Trade and Technology Council (TTC) held a call with their Indian counterparts to review progress under the TTC and prepare for the next ministerial meeting. They welcomed the recent agreement on a memorandum of understanding on semiconductors between the EU and India, which was signed by EU Commissioner Thierry Breton and Indian Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Under the MoU, the EU and India intend to share experiences and best practices on their semiconductor ecosystems, identify collaboration opportunities in research and innovation, promote skills and workforce development, and ensure a level playing field via information sharing on public subsidies.
The agreement sets out cooperation to build robust semiconductor supply chains and joint innovation efforts. It reflects progress under the TTC since its launch. The participants welcomed the MoU as a step forward in EU-India technology cooperation.
The next TTC ministerial meeting is planned for early 2024 in India. Both sides will continue meeting regularly and reporting progress under the framework. The upcoming ministerial will assess achievements to date and shape the next phase of EU-India collaboration on trade and technology.
