Tesla has discussed setting up a new electric vehicle factory in India with Prime Minister Modi, and offered that it will manufacture a car priced at $24,000 according to media reports
Tesla sought a number of incentives to set up a battery storage factory, but Indian officials said that these would not be available. However, they added that the government can help create a fair business model for the company by offering subsidies to those purchasing such products.

Powerwall is aimed at residential and light commercial use but Tesla is willing to develop larger solutions for industry if the India plan works out. Officials in India told Tesla that it will have to work on reducing the cost of its battery storage products, adding that the demand is expected to be high, and that the government will help to unlock the market.
