McDonald’s Plans to Double Stores in North, East, India

McDonald’s India aims to double its outlets to over 300 restaurants in the North and East over the next three years. The company currently operates 156 restaurants with 5,000 employees in this region.

The company rolled out its largest restaurant in India spread across 6,700 sq ft with a capacity to accommodate 220 people, at Guwahati, the largest city in northeastern India located in the state of Assam.

“Guwahati, being the gateway for northeast India, is a strategic location for us with future expansion possibilities. We are working to open more outlets in the northeastern region,” explained managing director Rajeev Ranjan.

McDonald’s is present in India through two master franchisees – Sanjeev Agrawal-led MMG Group for North and East India and Westlife Group led by B L Jatia for West and South.
