Model Economic Township or MET City, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mumbai-based Reliance Industries said it was developing a world-class greenfield smart city near Gurugram, Haryana in the Delhi National Capital Region.
In this industrial township, Tokyo-based manufacturer of medical devices Nihon Kohden Corporation will build its largest facility in India.
Nihon Kohden is a manufacturer, developer, and distributor of medical electronic equipment, which include EEGs, EMG measuring systems, ECGs, patient monitors, and clinical information systems. It has subsidiaries in the U.S., Europe and Asia, and distributors in nearly every country in the world.

Kentaro Kusano, managing director, Nihon Kohden India, said, “We are very pleased to announce the opening of our new hematology analyzer reagent factory. This facility marks an important milestone for our commitment to growing our business in India and positions Nihon Kohden well to achieve our vision for India – to be a trusted partner and provider to improve healthcare in the country.” Sameer Sehgal, CFO, added, “There is a growing demand in the in-vitro diagnostic industry created by the expansion of the healthcare market in India. By adding another manufacturing plant, we expect to increase our production capacity multi-fold.”
