According to data supplied by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in FY 2022, tire exports from India increased by 50% to an all-time high of $2.7 billion, up from $ 1.8 billion in the previous year. Despite delays due to Covid in the last two fiscal years, India’s tire exports have increased by 70%.
While farm/agri and OTR/industrial tires have traditionally been India’s most exported categories, truck and bus radial tire exports have accelerated nearly three-fold in recent years, from $162 million in FY19 to $398 million in FY 2022.
Indian tire exports have been helped by the China + one strategy followed by a number of developed markets.

Satish Sharma, chairman of the Automotive Tire Manufacturers’ Association said that the Tire industry and Rubber Board of India are collaborating to widen the export footprint and ensuring that the raw material, producers, and the entire value chain align to exacting standards,
More than 170 countries purchase tires from India, including markets in North America and Europe. The U.S. continues to be the largest market for Indian tires.
The top 5 export markets for Indian manufactured tires in Q1 were the U.S, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Italy.
