In a first, DefExpo 2022 was held exclusively for Indian companies, Indian subsidiaries of Foreign OEMs registered in India, and for exhibitors that had a Joint Venture with an Indian company.The event was inaugurated by India’s Minister for Defense, Rajnath Singh on October 20 who said on the occasion, “DefExpo 2022 will showcase the growing prowess of India’s indigenous defense industry, which is one of the major drivers of the nation’s resolve to achieve ‘Make in India, Make for the World’.”
Speaking at this 12th edition of the DefExpo which was based on the theme ‘Path to Pride’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the export of India’s defense products had increased eight times in the last eight years.
The biennial exhibition was organized to support, showcase, and forge partnerships for the Indian aerospace and defense manufacturing sectors with Indian as well as global customers, to achieve the overall objective of fulfilling the country’s requirements.

Modi also announced the fourth positive India-made list of 101 items which will help to further strengthen India’s Defense Industry’s journey of self reliance.
The prime minister virtually laid the foundation stone of the (Rs 1,000 crore) 52 Wing Air Force Station, Deesa Airfield in Gujarat. The airfield is located north of Gujarat close to the India-Pakistan border and is critical for the country’s security. This project is expected to be completed in approximately 21 months.
