India Increased Energy Generation by 10 GW During Pandemic

One of Prime Minister Modi’s innovations was to combine charge of multiple related ministries under one cabinet minister. So the Ministries of Power (Energy from Conventional Sources) and that of   New & Renewable Energy both report to R.K. Singh.

According to Singh India added 9.7 gigawatt  of power generation capacity during the first 11 months of the current financial year which will end of March 31. In a written reply to the upper house of Parliament, he stated  I that this includes 3.8 GW of conventional energy and 5.9 GW from renewable sources.

‘The total installed power generation capacity, including from renewable energy sources, in the country as on February 28, 2021 is 379.1 GW. A total of 117.9 GW power generation capacity has been added since the Modi government took over.
