India Unit Helps Disney Plus Hit 95 million Subscribers

Since it purchase of some News Corp assets the Walt Disney company has grown its footprint in India.  One such value came from the Star TV network which includes the Hotstar streaming service.

According to the Los Angeles Times The Disney+ subscriber count of 94.9 million is up from the 86.8 million the company reported in December during a presentation for analysts.

Since the last quarter ended in October, Disney+ has added about 21 million subscribers. A significant portion of Disney+’s subscriber count comes through Disney’s bundle with its Hotstar service in India and this growth represents a positive sign for a service considered key to its future.

Novi Digital owns, operates, and manages the audio-visual streaming platform, Disney+ Hotstar, accessible via hotstar.com and the Hotstar app. With the launch of Disney+ in India, ‘Hotstar’ was renamed to ‘Disney+ Hotstar’.
