Expansion plans for India will remain unaffected, says Ho Sung Song, the global president of Kia Motors Corporation of Korea.

In his first interview to international media Song told the Economic Times, “We will use India to serve the demand for not only the domestic market but also the exports to emerging markets. Our plans for India have not changed.” Speaking over a video call from South Korea, Song was bullish about Kia’s journey in India so far. Having secured a podium with Seltos in the mid-size SUV segment, Kia is now rolling out the Sonet, a compact SUV for Indian consumers.
Even this year, we are working on the Indian domestic market, 130,000 lakh units this year. If we have a full year swing in another two to three years time, 200,000 volumes are quite feasible, as we are in our beginning stages in the country. We still see fast-growing demand for the Kia products, I think 200,000 vehicles will be feasible for us.
