American Tower Company Expands Indian Stake to 90%

American Tower Company, a real estate investment trust that owns, operates, and develops wireless communications and broadcast towers in the United States, acquired India’s Tata Teleservices’ 13% residual stake in ATC Telecom Infrastructure Private Limited, for $360 million. With this acquisition, the Boston, MA-based independent tower firm now owns nearly 90% in ATC Telecom Infrastructure. Australia’s Macquarie Group owns the balance.

In 2015, American Tower bought a 51% stake in the telecom tower company then known as Viom Networks Limited from Tata Teleservices. After acquiring the majority stake, the American company renamed the Indian tower company as ATC Telecom Infrastructure., and expanded its towers portfolio aggressively through acquisitions.
