To boost sales in the face of stiff competition in the premium smartphone segment in India, where it stands at third position, Apple lowered the selling price of its latest iPhone XR by up to 22 percent.

This is the first time ever that Apple has reduced prices for its flagship iPhone models. Up until now, the company presented cashback offers, no-cost financing, and exchange programs.
Additionally, Apple will run a limited period program on HDFC Bank cards offering 10% cashback, when the iPhone XR (64GB model) will be available at $780.
Apple will not change the sticker price or maximum retail price of the iPhone XR in India. Instead, the company is adopting the market operating price strategy in India which competitors such as Samsung and Xiaomi follow, and where the official consumer selling price is lower than the maximum retail price.
