British automotive company MG Motor U.K. Limited, a subsidiary of Shanghai-based SAIC Motor, will begin production of its SUV Hector in India in the second quarter of 2019.
The company has set up its manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat, and plans to begin production with over 75 percent localization. MG Motor India managing director Rajeev Chaba said that the Hector has been re-engineered to suit the evolving preferences of customers and Indian road conditions.

MG Motor will also launch an all-electric SUV in India. Gaurav Gupta, chief commercial officer of the company said, “We will be launching the pure electric SUV in the fourth quarter this year in some select cities across the country.” These vehicles will have over-the-air (OTA) technology and a range of over 150 miles in a single charge.
OTA technology is still a new concept in India and MG Motor will be the first to have it in their models. This technology allows the auto maker to update its operating system in the vehicle helping refresh the content including entertainment features. OTA is a standard for the transmission and reception of application-related information in a wireless communication system.
