Vodafone Idea Limited, the merged entity of Vodafone India and Idea Cellular, announced the successful consolidation of nearly 25% of its pan-India radio network integration within five months of their merger. The customers of both companies will experience a unified network experience on 2G, 3G and 4G in eight telecom circles: West Bengal, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, North East, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (excluding Hyderabad), Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Vishant Vora, chief technology officer of Vodafone Idea instrumental in completing this integration on a national level, says, “With meticulous planning and rigorous execution, we have ensured that our customers remain confidently connected and enjoy uninterrupted services even as we integrate and optimize our network in a phased manner across circles.”
Vodafone Idea follows a three-pronged strategy in driving this consolidation:
- Make the better and dominant of the two networks in each circle as the anchor network
- Complement anchor network with required support from the other network
- Enhance network capabilities and capacity by investing in technologies such as Dynamic Spectrum Refarming, Spectrum Re-farming, M-MIMO and Small Cells
