China headquartered Miniso plans to source India-made products for its stores in the U.S. and Australia. Additionally, it plans to invest in its own warehouses at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore to cater to its expanding network.
“We are looking into getting more local purchase and we also want to sell Indian products to other countries,” Miniso India chief business development officer Yang Liu, said. The company operates around 3,000 stores in over seventy markets.

Miniso launched retail operations in India in August 2017 and recorded over $100 million in the first year. It plans to take its store count to 800 by 2019.
It is mandatory to source 30 percent goods from India in single brand retail trade, and Liu noted that the products Miniso sold were sourced from China, South Korea and Thailand but “before the end of next year, we will be able to put our local purchase to 30 per cent,” he explained. The company has already signed contracts with some Indian manufacturers.
