The Netherlands and the government of India’s southern state of Karnataka will co-develop technology solutions in healthcare, said the Netherlands Ambassador to India Marten Van Den Berg.
The Living Lab, a technology partnership that was set up in May 2018 during the visit of Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade Sigrid Kaag, will launch three pilot projects in geriatrics, mental health and diabetes-hypertension. These projects will be funded jointly by the state and the Dutch government. The Dutch government’s Living Lab initiative is also present in other emerging economies such as China, Brazil, Indonesia. The Lab will take up projects for developing tools for health literacy application, diagnostic tools for urinary illness, to come up with biomarkers for mass screening of populations at risk.

The Center for Human Genetics, the anchor institute for the Living Lab in Bangalore, will assist the process, together with Nuffic Netherlands Education Support Office also in Bangalore, and the Task Force for Applied Research in the Netherlands.
