With a share of 9.2 percent of the overall car exports from India, the U.S. became the third-biggest market for passenger vehicles (cars, utility vehicles, and vans) manufactured in India during the financial year that ended March 31, 2018. During this period, passenger car exports to the U.S. increased to $654 million from a mere $3.52 million a year before, export data from India’s Ministry of Commerce showed.
Ford EcoSport and General Motors‘ Chevrolet Beat were the most exported cars from India. Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Volkswagen are ramping up their exports to the U.S. from India which has become a large automotive manufacturing hub, selling to approximately 175 countries.
