San Francisco, CA-based Microsoft Ventures is looking at investing in India’s startups. Peggy Johnson, executive vice-president for business development said, “Microsoft Ventures is not here [in India] yet. We intend to come to this market…there will be an explicit commitment for India.” The company already services about 5,000 Indian startups through its various programs, including seven accelerators, with partners such as Reliance Industries and 24 third-party accelerators, Johnson added.

With eleven offices in India and a staff of 8,000, Microsoft considers India both as a hub for its R&D and engineering activities, as also as a market for its products. The company already works with Bandhan Bank and Bajaj Finserv.
